Established in 1998, Canadian Blood Services is an independent registered charity. They receive most of their financial support from the governments of all provinces and territories except Quebec. Regulated as a biologics manufacturer by Health Canada, they are responsible for operating the national blood and plasma supply system, as well as the national public cord blood bank. In pursuing their mission as Canada’s Biological Lifeline, they work to provide safe, reliable access to high-quality products and services required for the treatment and care of patients across the country.

Today is Good Friday. There is no other day on our calendar quite like this one. I often wonder what the typical non-Christian in Canada thinks about today. Everything is shut down. Much of Canada is quiet. It gives those of us who love Jesus a day to set aside and focus on the Cross. The world has not usurped this day with a Santa Claus or Easter Bunny. This is the day we call Good … the irony is that this is only Good because what happened today has led to the redemption of millions of people around the world. The events of that day were not good – a miscarriage of justice, at least in the human sense. A kangaroo court. A crowd crying out, not understanding, as Matthew 27:25 says: “All the people answered, ‘His blood is on us and on our children!’” Yes, it was. His blood is on all of us because of our sin. But when that cleansing-from-sin-and-guilt blood is applied to our hearts by faith, it changes everything. And because of this, today truly is Good Friday. Is it for you?
