We will never know exactly when the heart of Jesus began to beat once again. But it did – and as he rose from the spot where they had placed His dead body, He folded up the graveclothes and the stone rolled away. The Bible says that he is the first fruits of all others who, by repentance and faith in Jesus, experience resurrection life as well. The apostle Peter, who was deeply impacted by Jesus’ resurrection, wrote this in 1 Peter 1:3: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Jesus’ resurrection changed everything. The moment we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we experience His resurrection. Immediately we are brought from death to life, spiritually and one day, as He did, we will rise to take our place in His eternal Kingdom. All because of God’s mercy and Jesus’ resurrection.
