…and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

With Power

Fossil fuels generate 18% of Canadian electricity, about half as coal (7% of the total) and the remainder a mix of natural gas and oil. Only four provinces use coal for electricity generation. Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia rely on coal for less than half their generation while other provinces and territories burn none for electricity. Alberta and Saskatchewan also use a substantial amount of natural gas. Remote communities including all of Nunavut and much of the Northwest Territories produce most of their electricity from diesel generators, at high economic and environmental cost.

In our world, many people are appointed to position of authority. In Canada, our Senators are appointed, and they are tasked to give proposed legislation a sober second look, suggesting changes that they deem clarifying, more equitable or more beneficial to the people of Canada. Cabinet members are appointed to help the Prime Minister accomplish what Canadians elected him to do. Jesus was appointed as well, to a powerful position of authority. Paul writes this in Romans 1:4: “…and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.” Jesus’ resurrection changed everything. When He burst forth from the tomb, resurrection power unlike anything ever seen since the creation of the world, the Creator Himself now takes His rightful place as the Son of God, with all the power and authority that belongs to Him alone. One day we will see Him in all His glory and holiness, as He speaks His Kingdom into its fullness, and He takes His place as King of kings and Lord of lords.

These have been words from the heart.
