From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Psalm 3:8 NIV
Deliverance
Operation Deliverance was a Canadian military operation in Somalia that formed part of the United Nations peace-making deployment to that country during the early part of the Somali Civil War. The mission began on December 3, 1992, and involved about 1,400 Canadian troops, a helicopter unit and the supply ship HMCS Preserver. Operation Deliverance turned into a political disaster for the Canadian Forces after several Somali civilians were brutally killed or injured in what became known as the Somalia Affair.

King David had not done the father thing well. His children caused him great concern and heart break. One son, Amnon, raped his half-sister Tamar, and because David didn’t deal with it in a timely fashion, another son Absalom burned with rage and eventually tried to usurp David’s throne. By the time it was all over, David was left with two dead sons and a traumatized daughter. In the midst of the battle against Absalom, David wrote Psalm 3 and pours out his heart. In Psalm 3:8 he writes: “From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.” In spite of all that was moiling around David and the total disfunction of his family, David was trusting God. He knew that the throne was rightfully his and he declares that the Lord will deliver him. The promise is for all of us. When we find ourselves surrounded by those who oppose us, or when temptation seems overwhelming, we can call on the name of the Lord and He will come and deliver us. God did deliver David. He returned to Jerusalem and reigned as King. He will deliver you as well, and His blessing will be on you.
These have been words from the heart.
